miah has a secret

A few days before camp came to a close Miah discovered a nest with baby birds. She was so excited that anyone who came around was taken by the hand and told, "baby birds." If I hadn't stopped her, the entire camp would have been given a tour of the baby birds. The tour didn't stop with that nest. On the other side of the patio roof she would show you the swallow who played peek-a-boo from its nest. On the third side, she would point out the remains of a nest, throw her hands in the air, and say, "all gone." After agreeing with her that the nest was gone, and thinking that the tour was over, she would suddenly remember the baby birds. She would grab your hand, and pull you to the other side of the patio to begin the tour all over.

We've been home a few days now, long enough she might have forgotten a few things about the Whittington Center, but she still asks me where the "kids" have gone to, calls out the screen door for "Krista, Krista, c'mere," and at the funniest moments she'll put her sweet little lips to my ear and softly whisper, "baby birds."
